Cody Glass ... uh oh

Cody Glass.

Las Vegas Knights.

Oh boy...

By the time Elias Petterrson makes the Vancouver Canucks the player the Canucks passed on, Cody Glass, will be in his 5th year for the Las Vegas Knights.

Glass will be wearing a C for the Las Vegas Knights.

And given how well Las Vegas drafted and the fact they will get Rasmus Dahlin as Vancouver "tries to make the playoffs" and you know Vegas is getting Dahlin - it's quite conceivable Gary Bettman will be handing the Stanley Cup to Cody Glass in Vegas before Petterrson, at 145 pounds of playing weight, ever sets foot in an NHL arena.

And you know IF Petterrson ever makes the NHL how much Glass is going to enjoy rubbing the stinky glove in his face, pushing him to the ice, speed bagging his face, tripping him, slashing him... Oh, Glass is going to LOVE playing against Mr. Petterrson in Vancouver - waving to the crowd after he ragdolls little Elias...
Good times are coming !

Only the Canucks could mess up a 2 man rush to a 5 man outhouse.

Oh, but Petterrson has "skill" !

Ok, based on what?
He played in a tier 2 beer league in Sweden.

Glass meanwhile scored bushfuls of points playing in the highest level of hockey he could play at for his age. The 6'2" 190 pound Glass scored 32 goals and 94 points in 69 games in Portland, you know, that place near Vancouver, in the WHL. He's expected to play at 210 pounds.

Petterrson is also older.
He's 40 pounds lighter on a body frame most scouts said won't put on weight.
He doesn't have a frame that can carry weight and he's unlikely to put on weight until his 40s is what they're saying.
This isn't Sedin skinny. This is Ryan Miller skinny. And Petterrson isn't a goalie. He's going to be trying to take faceoffs against guys 80 pounds YES 80 POUNDS stronger than him.
And being a centre means, you know, taking faceoffs.
And so they drafted a guy who probably, even if he makes the NHL won't take faceoffs because... uh 80 POUNDS !!

And plays with someone who always helps him on the ice (sound familiar?)

I mean really? They went down that road again?
Two guys dependent on each other, can't play with anyone else, makes no one else better, can't carry a team, can't lift a team to a Stanley Cup.

They went down that road again?

What is it with this franchise and its hatred of WHL players?

I mean it's right there on a T for them - Smyl and Linden - hanging up in the rafters.
Guys who could elevate in the playoffs.

We see it time and time again - unless it's Petr Forsberg, unless it's Niklas Lidstrom - if it's from Sweden and it ain't one of those two players - it's not happening.

You all remember Mats Sundin?

Mr. "no show" in the playoffs?

How about Markus Naslund in the playoffs? How'd that work out?

Mark Messier breaking his stick over the head of Thomas Gradin - that was a beauty.

What in the hell is this franchise doing?

Cody Glass will be 400 points and possibly a Stanley Cup and Calder Trophy ahead of Petterrrson by the time he makes the NHL IF he makes the NHL.

You're dreaming in technicolor folks if you think Petterrson is going to get up to 180 pounds.
And Glass at that time will be at 210 pounds.

What the hell was the thinking there?
Glass can score goals, carry a team, pass the puck - HIGH HIGH HIGH skill level.
He has compete.
HE PLAYS ON A NHL SIZE RINK !

Oh my God, here we go again down team Krona.

If Petterrson makes the NHL he'll need another 5 years to learn the "NHL size rink".

And then what is he? 28?

The stupidity of the franchise knows no bounds apparently.

The NHL is littered with blown draft picks who had "high skill" levels.

That's great. But was it at the highest level possible?
Was it on an NHL rink?
Was it against mean players? Ones who punch you in the face? Chop you? Crosscheck you? Spit on you? Hit you?

Hell no, Petterrson's never seen any of this.
He's going to be in shock when he gets here.
Absolute shock at how brutal it is at the NHL level where guys compete for money.

It's a blown pick folks. Glass, it was sitting there on a T for them.

It's never a good sign when the team picking behind your team is high-fiving and cheering and running to the podium after your pick.

What the hell were they thinking?
Let someone else take the risk.

  1. Your blog is so bad! You've taken 20lbs off of guys actual weight, can't spell his name right (which isn't a hard thing to do). What kind of sad pathetic soul are you that you've got to go online and publicly shame some young aspiring athletes body type?

  2. Thanks for reading Fergy !

Petterrson is in the business of criticism.
That sucks, I know, but 18 year old draft.

If they had drafted Glass instead of Peterrrsonn then Glass would be here, 6 weeks from training camp.

Pettterrrrsson is in the business of body type.
    That's what athletes are.

He's got an uphill climb with his playing weight at 145 -- which is different than show up for camp weight.

They lose 20 pounds during the season.

NFL players typically lose 10 pounds per game.

    Thanks Fergy !
