Was there anything worse than Olympic hockey?
Maybe a pre-season game between Carolina and Florida.
But other than that - it's the worst hockey on ice.
And I'm sorry if that pissed "olympic" lovers - especially those with a hard-on for 2010 and Iginla's "Golden Pass".
Big whoopy shit. It was awful hockey. I'll admit, like half of my city, I didn't watch it, I was enjoying the sunshine outside and dirtbiking. That's what I remember of the "Golden Pass".
I watched it later, over 15 days, on PVR, trying to get through 5 minutes at a time.
Oh my God people, what were you drinking to think it was good hockey?
There were only two teams in the tournament and the US almost beat Canada with a makeshift team led by Ryan Kesler.
That was good?
Please.
The reality is the NHL is so bad right now if Canada's Olympic team in South Korea is led by Linden Vey - will you even notice?
Please.
If Linden Vey were given the right opportunity in the NHL he would get 25 goals.
Connor McDavid got 30 goals.
So, if you can do math, that's 5 goals difference.
So you need to think about that for a second.
The 700th ranked players in the world is about 5 goals away from Connor McDavid.
Oh, I know, McDavid got 70 assists.
Vey would put up 30 assists on a bad team. With Dreiseitel Vey would get 50 assists.
Folks, you've been fed a line of shit for years.
These NHL players aren't very good. Like honestly, you don't know what you're missing.
The difference between a Linden Vey and a Sidney Crosby - it's not as big as you think it is.
At best Crosby is a 40 goal scorer.
Vey could pop 25 goals if given the chance.
The league which you follow isn't full of top-end talent. In fact, there isn't any top-end talent in the NHL right now.
That's right, after Alexander Ovechkin - it's a steep drop off.
And that's right, I said Ovechkin, not McDavid, not Crosby.
SHOW ME THE MONEY! Goals.
Goals and nothing else. Who is the best Canadian goal scorer right now?
That's right. No one.
The NHL couldn't be worse than it is right now in terms of missing talent.
Hell, you had a complete rookie from Switzerland, Auston Matthews, walk into the league and show these bitches how to play, and I hate the Toronto Maple Leafs.
What does that tell you about how bad the NHL is?
And so if you're lamenting the loss of "NHL stars" at the Olympics, I have to ask, what stars?
Who gives a crap. Games would be at 2am anyways on international ice surface.
Not to mention the injuries - hey, if it's Auston Matthews you're going to be pissed Toronto - or McDavid, Edmonton. Lucky you're not going.
And then there's the schedule disruption and Stanley Cup games in August. No thanks.
Waste of time.
Let it go.
WTF did I just read?
