Canucks are a .400 hockey team / Shutout twice

The Vancouver Canucks got blanked for the second time in seven games - on their way to surpassing the 10 or 11 times they were shutout last year and the year before and... it's a broken record.

The Power Play is 10% - that includes the game against what I contend was NOT Jonathon Quick - who the hell knows what happened in the LA game where they scored 8 goals? Was Quick at the Roxy the night before?

They beat a tired Detroit AHL Red Wings team.

And that's it.

A tie against Philadelphia.
A tie against the St. Louis Blues on a ridiculous penalty call on St. Louis.

And so that puts the Canucks at

2 wins - 3 losses - 2 ties.

That's .400 hockey.

Throwout the LA and Detroit games and they're a team that struggles to score goals.

They have an entire team (almost) of penalty killers.

Travis Green would make a terrific penalty killer coach - he's not a head coach in the NHL.

Elias Pettersson is well past the point of being Utica bound.

Quinton Hughes does nothing on the ice - and his stick is 4" too long.

Brogan Rafferty in the Canucks AHL roster has 3 points in 4 games and looks terrific - but he was dumped in Utica because of the Quinton Hughes.

The garbage of the Canucks advertising Pettersson as the next Pavel Bure is downright hysterical -- Bure had 60 goals and 50 assists in year 2 in the DEAD PUCK ERA !!!

The reality is they're not a very good team.

They've got a couple games to OT.

Philadelphia had just played in Europe when they played Vancouver. St. Louis is struggling a bit - the old Stanley Cup hangover.

And so you start to evaluate the team realistically - and you see a team that has OUTSTANDING goaltending which has masked a number of problems.

They lack skill - especially at Center Ice.

They've drafted miserably.

They have a coach in a feud with the one player that can play at this level - Jake Virtanen.

Brock Boeser needs help - and he's playing with Pettersson and Hughes who should be Utica.

Bure - still the best talent Vancouver has had.

The "Core Four" is the "Core Bore" - are you kidding me?

Best rookies in Canucks history

1) Bure
2) Linden
3) Lidster
4) Ohlund

Bad drafting, bad coaching.

That being said - hey - they're a .400 hockey team -- I thought they'd be about .250 - so that's better than I thought.
