Andrey Pedan - needed on opening roster Vancouver

If you listen to the Nerds on the radio or on "canucks l'armee" - the analytic goofballs - they'll tell you Pedan can't play.

They want 6 skinny defensemen on the ice "moving the puck."

God knows how they're going to get the puck.
Or how they're going to clear the front of the net.
Or how they're going to get the puck out of their own zone.

Playing defense isn't all about "skill".
It's a skill on its own.

I'll give you an example.
The rookies playing in Calgary.
It could have been a bloodbath.

But something happened in the game no one noticed except for those that understand hockey.

The Calgary Flames ran Demko.
They ran the young Canucks D.
They started rubbing faces.
They started yapping it up.

And then it happened.

Andrey Pedan went over to a scrum, he grabbed a Calgary Flames sweater by the scruff and pulled him beside him. And he leaned over, and quietly whispered to him, "Knock it off."

The answer was, "Yes sir."

And that was that.

Game on from there.

The Canucks peppered the Flames with 17 shots in the second period.
Demko stood tall.
Boeser found his groove.

And away they went.

Pedan is too valuable for the AHL.
They'll lose him on waivers if they try to get him to AHL.
He won't clear.

He's 100% what the Canucks need.

What happened to the Canucks when Pedan wasn't in LA?
They got ran.

He needs to be on the starting lineup.
The Canucks play better with a tough guy in the lineup.
And not a little tough guy like Derek Dorsett.
But an actual heavyweight.

Yes, nerds, he may make the odd bad play.
But it doesn't matter.

It's about building a team. It's about protecting the talent. It's about making sure this doesn't happen

Pedan makes sure you don't have someone like Hansen trying to throw punches.

Pedan has to make the team.

As for who comes out?

Does it matter? It's not like Duncan Keith is on the roster.

Since Tanev can't play more than 10 games without getting hurt - why not sit Tanev until you can trade him? There's going to be takers.

Or trade Hutton.

Make room.

Ask Edler to please leave. Please.

Make room.

If the Canucks don't make room for Pedan they're going to see their talented young Brock Bossy get run.

They made the right move not playing Boeser in Edmonton.
But now they need to make sure he's always protected.

A guy named Harold Snepts did the same thing for the team.

His name's on the wall in the building.
